Once a simple fishing shack located on a quiet lake, the Dogwood home has been transformed into a lakeside escape with charming features and quality updates. When the homeowners envisioned this space, they saw the character of the house and the opportunities to improve and personalize the home. Originally the house had one bathroom and two bedrooms, but through renovation, the home now boasts three bedrooms and two bathrooms to accommodate the familyโs needs. Essentially, a new floor plan was created to meet the homeownerโs vision. The existing dining room was transformed into a spacious master bedroom and space was added on to complete the master suite with a bathroom and closet. To reach the desired open design concept, many walls were removed and added to re-format the homeโs original layout.
Beyond the floor plan, comfort was prioritized through repairing and replacing all electrical, plumbing, and HVAC components. Additionally, insulation was placed where needed within the home. Now, the home is equipped to remain warm and functional in every season.
The appearance of the home was greatly improved through repaired drywall and interior paint. Accomplishing the naturally rustic feel throughout the home, custom clear pine casings were added around the doors, windows, and baseboards. The warmth and style of the home were further enhanced through custom distressed false beams, a column, and a fireplace with a custom maple โlive edgeโ mantel placed in the central living room.
Blending the repairs and improvements with the existing features of the home was vital to achieve a consistent and beautiful final product. Tongue and groove pine ceiling were installed and custom stained to match existing 45+ year old sun faded pine ceilings. Oak flooring was installed, sanded, stained, and finished to blend seamlessly with the original flooring. For greater accessibility and safety, a new staircase was added to reach the cellar.
The transformation was not only on the inside. The exterior of the home was improved to maximize the appearance of the home, both inside and outside. For the protection of the home, the entire roof was re-done, free from damaging leaks. New siding was implemented to upgrade and update the houseโs exterior. Creating a welcoming entryway as well as transforming the homeโs first impression, a new entry location complete with a porch and sturdy cedar columns was executed. With a complete revitalization both inside and outside, the Dogwood home has captured the vision of the homeownerโs both in appearance and function.
